New rules on information and transparency of employment conditions

What companies and employment documents may need reviewing after Royal Decree 723/2026.

Published: 15 September 2026 · Effective: 5 October 2026 · Primary source: BOE.

What the regulation does

Royal Decree 723/2026 partially transposes Directive (EU) 2019/1152 and develops the information workers must receive about essential contract terms and main working conditions. It took effect on 5 October 2026.

Who it covers

It applies to companies and workers covered by Article 1 of Spain’s Workers’ Statute, subject to specific rules for certain employment relationships. Its general contract-information chapter applies to relationships lasting more than four weeks; fishers and seafarers have separate chapters. Transitional rules also apply to employment relationships already in force.

Why it matters to companies

The practical review may involve contracts, annexes, onboarding information and internal documentation, not just one template.
