What to Do in the First Hours After a Dismissal

Start with the dismissal letter, the notification date and the documents already in your possession.

General information · Check the current official source before acting

Preserve the document and the date

Keep the complete dismissal letter and record how and when you received it. The effective date and the notification date are not always the same.

Keep the financial documents

Keep the settlement, compensation proposal, recent payslips and any communication about the end of the employment relationship.

Do not try to decide the legal classification alone

You do not need to decide whether the dismissal is fair, unfair or void before seeking advice. The useful first step is to preserve the facts and dates.

For dismissal challenges, the general procedural deadline is 20 working days. The exact calculation should be checked against the date and circumstances of the case.
